In a nutshell: Ordinary testers only check if the cable is connected or not; Fluke certified testing verifies whether this link truly meets the bandwidth standards of Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A, ensuring stable transmission of gigabit/10-gigabit speeds and issuing reports that can be used for engineering acceptance.

1. Core purpose for project acceptance and settlement filing (most important)
Project completion certification for cabling projects (data centers, factories, buildings, security systems, industrial automation) in accordance with national standards GB50312, TIA568, ISO11801; Test reports have a unique ID, serving as the basis for delivery, acceptance, payment, and warranty.
There are two testing modes:
Permanent Link: Wall-mounted cables + panels/modules (excluding both ends of the jumper), commonly used in wiring construction and acceptance
Channel: Includes both ends of the jumper, simulating the actual entire internet link
Foreign trade / industrial projects (such as robot, automated production lines M12 industrial cables) often require Fluke reports as quality inspection delivery materials.
2. Testing multiple key electrical properties (not just on/off)
Test all indicators at once to determine if the cable material, connector, module, and construction process are qualified:
Twist pair, short circuit, open circuit, split pairs (difficult to detect with ordinary testers)
Cable length, break point location (TDR time domain reflection, quickly locates the break point)
Insertion loss (attenuation): Loss of signal transmission in the cable
Near-end crosstalk NEXT, far-end crosstalk FEXT: Interference between wire pairs (most important indicators for Cat5e / Cat6a 10-gigabit links)
Return loss, delay, delay difference, DC loop resistance, unbalanced resistance (directly related to the stability of PoE power supply, 802.3af/bt high-power PoE cameras, AP)
Many cables can ping and access the internet, but if the crosstalk / return loss does not meet the standards, they will drop packets, freeze, fail to reach the bandwidth, or lose PoE connection. These hidden problems can only be detected by Fluke.
3. Fault diagnosis and troubleshooting
Old networks, data centers, troubleshooting intermittent packet loss, insufficient network speed, camera disconnection, unstable PoE power supply;
Locate the fault point: Determine if it is the cable itself, poor crimping of the connector, module quality, excessive bending, pulling damage, poor shielding and grounding;
Port identification: Combined with the remote ID, quickly locate the corresponding switch port on the wall, facilitating label management;
Shielded cables: Test the continuity of the shielding layer, and check the shielding grounding problem.
4. Quality verification, preventing shoddy workmanship
Verification: Whether the copper core of the cable meets the standards, inferior copper-clad aluminum, non-standard cables, unqualified connectors/modules, construction process defects (excessive bending, twisting, pulling damage).
Scenarios: Warehouse inspection, supplier incoming material inspection, to confirm that Cat6/Cat6A cables can truly run at 10-gigabit speed, rather than just being able to connect to the internet.
5. Applicable scenarios

❌ Ordinary household use (costly, simple internet access with ordinary testers is sufficient)
Additional distinction
Verification test (simple on/off): A few dozen yuan tester → Only checks if the wire sequence is connected
Certification test (Fluke DSX series): Meets standards for bandwidth, crosstalk, attenuation, issues formal Pass/Fail reports, recognized by engineering acceptance
