The core performance differences between Cat5 network cables and Cat5e network cables are mainly concentrated in three core dimensions: bandwidth, transmission rate, and anti-interference ability. The following is a detailed comparative analysis, and at the same time, it supplements the key points that customers care about in the foreign trade scenario:
Performance Dimension: Category 5 network cable (Cat5) Super Category 5 network cable (Cat5e)
Rated bandwidth: 100MHz - 155MHz
The maximum transmission rate only supports 100Mbps (100M Ethernet), and it cannot support 1000Mbps (1G Ethernet) for gigabit bandwidth. It is backward compatible with 100M / 10M rates
The anti-interference capability is designed with a loose pair pitch, which has a weak ability to resist electromagnetic interference (EMI) and crosstalk. During high-speed transmission, signal attenuation is significant. By optimizing the pair pitch and insulating material, and strictly controlling crosstalk and return loss, the anti-interference capability is greatly enhanced, ensuring stable transmission even in complex wiring environments
The transmission stability is only suitable for short-distance and low-load scenarios. After exceeding 50 meters, the stability of 100-megabit transmission decreases. At a gigabit rate, it can stably transmit for 100 meters and is currently the mainstream choice for comprehensive cabling
Application scenarios: renovation of old networks, telephone voice cabling, standard-definition monitoring, connection of low-bandwidth devices (such as printers, access control systems) to home/enterprise gigabit network cabling, high-definition monitoring, interconnection of smart home devices, server/switch links, mainstream supply models for foreign trade e-commerce platforms
The market positioning is low in price, but it has gradually been phased out. Only a small number of existing market demands the most cost-effective network cable category, which is the core best-selling product of the foreign trade network cable business, and the overseas market demand is strong
Key supplements to foreign trade scenarios

The maximum transmission distance for both is 100 meters, which is a unified requirement of the international cabling standard (TIA/EIA-568). If the distance exceeds this limit, a switch or repeater must be added.
When overseas customers make purchases, they should give priority to Cat5e. Unless there is a clear need to replace old equipment, it is not recommended to mainly promote Cat5.
The quotation sheet should clearly indicate types such as "Cat5e UTP/FTP", etc. UTP (unshielded) is suitable for regular scenarios, while FTP (single-shielded) is suitable for strong interference environments such as industrial and computer rooms.
