How to Wire Network Cables
Wiring network cables is a task that requires careful planning. Whether in a home environment or an enterprise computer room, proper wiring can ensure the stability and efficiency of the network. Here are the core steps and precautions for wiring network cables:

1

1. Preliminary Planning and Preparation
Clarify requirements and direction: First, determine the locations of routers, computers, televisions, etc., and plan the route of the cables reasonably. Try to lay the cables along corners, edges of the floor or ceilings, avoiding long cables, crossings, or exposure in vulnerable areas.
Prepare tools and materials: Select appropriate network cables (such as Cat5e, Cat6), connectors, cable strippers, line testers, and for organizing the cables, use ties, cable trays, etc.
2. Wiring and Testing
Make connectors: Strip the outer sheath of the network cable, arrange the cores according to the international standard T568B (color sequence: orange white, orange, green white, blue, blue white, green, brown white, brown), insert the cores into the connector. Ensure that each core is at the bottom of the connector, and then press it with a cable clamp.
Connectivity test: Before laying the cable or after making the connection, use a line tester to test whether the new cable is conductive. Ensure that all 8 cores are properly connected to avoid rework later.
3. Standard Wiring
Separate strong and weak electrical lines: The distance between signal cables (network cables) and power lines should be greater than 10cm. Do not allow the network cable to be connected to external power cables to prevent leakage or strong electromagnetic interference that may cause packet loss in the network.
Outdoor wiring safety: When wiring outdoors, do not use overhead wiring to avoid damaging equipment from lightning strikes. It is necessary to use buried wiring or pipe threading.
Turns and Protection: The turning radius of the cable should not be less than 4cm to protect the internal cores from damage. At the same time, ensure that the cable is not compressed by heavy objects or frequently bent.
4. Professional Wiring Specifications for Cabinets and Computer Rooms (for enterprises/computer rooms)
Reserve space and bilateral wiring: When wiring in a cabinet, reserve the vertical distance from the front panel to the cabinet door (for example, 6-category cables require a distance of ≥120mm). If using a 48-port switch, it is recommended to use "bilateral wiring" (the first 24 ports run from the left, and the last 24 ports run from the right), and reserve 1U space below the equipment to install a wiring rack.
Anti-static and line organization: Before operation, wear an anti-static wristband. The connected network cables should be straightened without crossing, and use binding clips to fix them. The binding should be as loose as possible, and the same bundle of cables should not exceed 12 (maximum 24) and maintain an appropriate binding spacing according to the diameter of the cable bundle.
Tagging Management: At both ends of each network cable, stick labels to clearly mark the names and numbers of the devices at this end and the opposite end, facilitating maintenance and expansion in the future.
5. Final Inspection
After wiring is completed, conduct a comprehensive test using a line tester. For network cables connected to devices, use the ping command to observe whether communication between both ends is normal to ensure a stable and efficient network environment.
